So, the suspect in that National Guard shooting? Apparently, the Trump admin approved his asylum application. I mean, give me a break. We're supposed to believe this guy, who came here under Biden's "Operation Allies Welcome," got greenlit by Trump's people?
"Vetted on this end by government background checks as far as they could do in Afghanistan, have sponsors and so on." That's CNN's John Miller explaining it. "As far as they could do in Afghanistan"? That's supposed to reassure me? It sounds like they were using carrier pigeons to run background checks, offcourse.
The Bari Weiss Factor
And then there's Bari Weiss, who, let's be real, is having way too much fun over at CBS News. Ten grand a day for security? Seriously? What, is she expecting Tucker Carlson to show up at her doorstep with a pitchfork?
But wait, it gets better. She's got her eye on CNN. Bari Weiss reportedly has ideas for CNN, too. TheWrap says she wants to run a combined CBS-CNN newsgathering operation if Paramount Skydance buys Warner Bros. Discovery. Her idea? "Saturday night debates in front of a live audience."
Is this supposed to be entertainment? Like some kind of political cage match? I can already see the promos: "Dershowitz vs. the NRA! Only on CNN!" It's bad enough we have to deal with the clown show that is cable news during the week, now she wants to bring it to Saturday nights?
Media Consolidation: The Nightmare Continues
The idea of one person controlling even more media is terrifying. Weiss wants to shut out voices like Hasan Piker and Tucker Carlson to elevate "normal" voices like Alan Dershowitz. Normal? Alan Dershowitz? Is she living in an alternate reality where up is down and cats are dogs?
And let's not forget the Trump connection. Apparently, the overhaul at CBS News that put Weiss in charge was done to make Trump happy. His Justice Department is needed to approve the merger. So, we're bending over backwards to appease a guy who might be in jail next year?
